It’s a form of cognitive dissonance. They try to justify it by using historical revisionism and pseudo science to explain why they’re exempt from being seen as “non white”. It’s actually quite sad to see such self hatred and lack of dignity that people will completely disregard parts of their identity just to feel accepted.
