Are wrinkles on minox due to minox, or the vehicle?

Doing some research on minox, here's a question I've been wondering for a while (in title).
So only studies I can find indicating minox fucks your collagen is this one

Meanwhile I found this in an article about propylene glycol, the usual vehicle for minox:

What do we think? Could it be possible to reduce the negative effects on skin from minoxidil by just ordering the powder and using a better vehicle?

I'll have to check on that, but yeah the small research I just did indicates that while there have been many human studies, actual collagen loss has not been noted. All this plus what you just said makes me hopeful that a more suitable vehicle would completely eliminate minoxidil related skin concerns.

what no one ever seems to consider is that minoxidil's effects on collagen are a necessary part of WHY it works as an MPB treatment. The long term changes in MPB affected scalps that prevent regrowth resemble any other fibrotic condition: an over-deposition of collagen. That minoxidil rapes collagen is a feature, not a bug.

I hate to break it to people, but any other alternative "treatment" (e.g peppermint oil) that works probably does the same thing, you just aren't aware of it because of a lack of research.

I'm not so sure, but I do see the sense in what you're saying. All this needs to be investigated further. But on first glance - if minoxidil's depletion of collagen was a significant aspect of it reversing MPB progression, then you should be able to keep a good portion of your gains after stopping minox, seeing as its not like your body will just jump back to the same collagen level it previously had - otherwise the supposed skin issues would be no big deal either.
