Use smart LED bulbs that change color
for example philips hue
Available for a few dollars and can be used for ambiance in room when not shining on face, can also use any color.

Any reason why it won't work? Red light is red light right?

Also reminder, don't use those big infrared lamps from Buer, they're for heating, will burn your skin

No, it won't work.
From the studies that have been done, red light therapy is effective only when the distance from the source is less than 30cm.

That pic is just an example, obviously you would use it close to face on a lampstand or w/e

Then it will work. Red light is red light.
Make sure the frequency is not between 700-780nm though since that range has been shown to be ineffective.

that would melt your collagen mate!
