no? they can cause hair breakouts if you are too aggressive but the hair usually grows back,if you have spare money I would instead do japanese hair straightening or keratin treatment, hair straighteners are a pain in the ass

make sure you are on it for at least 3 months ideally a year, it can increase the rate of shedding at the start
