Almost a year on this site and still haven't gotten this figured.
Hoping someone has a good answer.

I've got hair that has similar texture to this when I use the shitty drugstore shampoos, and it's difficult to style.
Hair

Basically fine hair (each individual strand is thin) but a lot of hair overall.
Gets oily after around 2-3 days after washing

Requirements:
  • I style my hair before heading out, after blow drying it (I don't use a heat protectant yet, any suggestions?), so I need to wash it daily during the school week or whatever. So I need some way to style it daily and wash that off WITHOUT using shampoo daily.
  • Good shampoo and a conditioner if necessary, oils, or any other products
  • Basically some suggestions on what products to use to either style or clean it, and how often I should use it. Preferably cheap and widely available.

tl;dr Essentially a routine with products that keep my hair healthy in the long-term but allow me to style and blow dry it daily too. My natural hair has little volume so that's necessary.

I have the same hair and I've found that Dove mens shampoo works really well for adding volume and making it soft af. They have it at sams club maybe walmart too idk. Its a white bottle with blue on the front and a yellow top.
I've been shampooing every day for like 5 years now with it without problem.

you say you have the same hair, and you wash your hair daily

but what products do you use to alleviate the downsides of washing it daily?

what style do you aim for
short on the sides, short-medium length on top with some volume/messiness

with a blow drier its easy but ik the heat's not good
on top of that I need to use a styling product to maintain it but I have to wash my hair after that

so ig I need some mild shampoo so I can use it daily?
As well as some hydrating product cuz daily washes aren't healthy

I don't use anything. I don't get dandruff and I like a dry non greasy style.

surely that's not healthy in the long run

you won't get dandruff because you're washing it daily but your hair is still going to be dried out/break from the excessive washing

that's what I'm looking to prevent

hanz de fuko claymation rn (it's clay), but I will probably try morrocanoil recommended by jameshowlett after I run out of this one

How don't I need shampoo? No product I've tried fully washes out with just water

will blow driers on cool still give volume and be effective? My hair has 0 volume naturally so I need the blow drier to get that

gels look oily asf when applied, clay gives a matte finish
also from my experience gels are harder to wash out jfl

I only shampoo 2-3x a week rn, still oily

but I'm saying I will have to style my hair and shampoo daily when I start going out more regularly, quarantine restrictions are soon going to be relaxed here and school will open

I've tried washing out w water, barely removes anything, mby im using too much
