That volume is much more important than intensity in regards of chewing.
The temporalis is supposed to function like an craniofacial appliance, and just like one it needs to be active for multiple hours a day.
Don't waste your time with 100% mastic, you will tire out within 20 minutes.
Go with conservative gum + a little bit of mastic, and bite with your incisors/premolars for 3+ hours a day.
