Not sure about material, but it was intraoral. Its higher risk for infection but with no visible scar. Im doing this secretly so minimizing scars was a big concern. Doc was board approved and stuff but about 50% the cost of his competitors. Dont know why. Was a little sketched out by the price.

Most chin implants increase the size of the chin horizontally, some custom implants have the ability to address vertical deficiencies, but a genioplasty can address both on a much larger scale. If the patient wants X (amount) of movement, with a genioplasty, the doctor orders that MM size, then makes his cut, and bam. With the implant, some doctors don't follow best protocol. Some will go through the lip, others no. Some will secure the implant with screws, others, unbelievably, not so much. If placed wrong, the implant can ride up and begin to erode at the bone, causing vulnerabilities to the bottom teeth. The genioplasty is usually only pricier by a small margin, so, all in all I think it's worth the increase in risk and price.

I get my cast off tomorrow morning. Nose is looking good from what I can tell. Had almost no bruising or swelling around my eyes as is typical with rhinoplasty. My mouth area is still super swollen and numb. Talking is pretty difficult, which is surprising. Hoping my doc tells me its normal part of healing process.
