IT's forward a little but also downwards. The best method its by touching your face's bones and feeling the protrusion.

Downward doesn‘t mean recessed.

Your maxilla is recessed - if you draw a straight line from the bottom of your earlobe it should hit your upper lip but from a visual perspective, it doesn't.
Also if you drew a line from your inner eye to your outer nose it should be diagonal and not straight down.
/note this is just visual

Also if you drew a line from your inner eye to your outer nose it wouldn't be diagnol more straight down.

You're not giving an accurate side profile image. You have to turn sideways and face forward and then take the image. Everyone looks good when they just turn their head. The models are also looking down and you can still see how good their jaw looks, this is very good indication of ample forward growth.
