Both plus relatively high gonial angle but nothing that warrants jaw surgery.

Depending on ur bite, a surgeon might be willing to give u bimax.

Ideally u may wanna combine that with a chin wing & CW rotation with posterior downgrafting

Just go for the chin wing if u have the means

EDIT: actually nvm, better consult a specialist cause there is a chance a chin wing can come with the problem of a longer face so it really also depends on ur frontal. If u already have a frontal that’s relatively on the narrow side, a genio or a chin wing might exacerbate it

How would I tell if the jaw is recessed cause I'm getting some different answers for that?

And how did you determine his mandible is recessed?

It literally has normal length if you give his chin some projection. His mandible is long enough to make his chin start approximately below his teeth. He is only lacking chin projection.
OP, recessed chin, mandible is not great looking but it is by no means recessed.

What would I check to tell if it's narrow from the front? I think the widest part of my jaw is pretty similar to my forehead and cheekbones in width but the chin part looks narrow.

U don’t need a scan to figure out his sna & snb angles are both low. The relative position of his mouth relative to his nasion is a clear give away. Recession is a RELATIVE construct. So either OP’s pic is tilted somewhat to the 3/4 which is giving bias or he is in fact recessed both in the lower & upper jaw. Again this can’t be 100% confirmed without a proper ceph but I’d bet my money on it

Can u post a frontal pic?!

Except the SNA and SNB angles aren't low. Give his recessed chin even a few mm of projection and it will at least line up with with the glabella. If OP gets a scan you owe me your life savings boyo.

tbh I might have to take another tomorrow morning. There's this one but I was slightly sucking in my cheeks so idk if it will be a good example.

In your case just a genio will suffice

Yaaa I thin just genio will do if ur interested in that. Chin wing MIGHT add gonial width & u have enough of dat. U have a good fwhr but a relatively short chin so any elongation of the chin will be beneficial. CCW rotation might also help but not worth it imo

Okay thanks.

that profile is pretty good, you need a bit of upswing/rotation. you don't need genio

His chin isnt short jfl

Double Jaw with CCW would be the best, but let's be real it's not a realistic option.

Genioplasty will help, but not much, Chin Wing should be more effective.

It's not the recession but the shape and angle which are the biggest problems, that's why implants might be the best for that.

This is a common case (I have the same problem), which sadly has no clear best solution.

your chin is not the problem, its your jawline is the problem honestly u might just wanna get fillers instead of implants because there isnt much to fix

Jaw implants or chin implants?
