The theory I have is that:
a wider palate = a easy to project, resonating voice
a narrow palate = hard to project, non-resonating voice
I think of it like a car's exhaust - if you have a tiny ass exhaust it sorta restricts the sound that the car produces. Whereas when you have a wide exhaust, it is obviously much louder.
And don't say, 'COPE ITS GENETICS VOCAL CHORDS GREYCEL'
The car had the same engine nigga, how does it sound different then?
It's physics - if you're palate isn't wide you're limiting your voice potential.
