HGH isn't anabolic in muscle tissue. No, really: HGH isn't anabolic

Thats a 2003 paper. Many such papers since investigating a possible anabolic mechanism of HGH heretofore unseen, and all of them failing. HGH by itself is close to useless as a bodybuilding drug, and is very expensive to boot. Cherry on top, long term use of HGH probably causes insulin resistance and even eventually type 2 diabetes.

But doesn't HGH alone make the difference between classic physique and modern roid monsters?
Elaborate.

No. Theres not a single bodybuilder who uses HGH alone. They are all using copious amounts of anabolic steroids, and insulin. Insulin is the real game changer that came along in the mid 80s and exploded in use in the late 90s.

HGH was around in the classic era, contrary to popular belief. It wasn't very widespread in use because it was extremely expensive, synthetic HGH not yet having been invented/discovered.

The cocktail for monster size these days is anabolic steroids totalling GRAMS per week (if you believe reports about dallas mccarver, then its possible pros have moved into range of using TENS of GRAMS weekly. However, I think these reports and commentaries are inaccurate and harebrained, and the average is probably still somewhere around 2-3 grams/weekly, which is of course, a staggering amount not just from a health concern perspective, but especially from a financial perspective) , HGH and insulin. The workhorse is still anabolic steroids, and without those you just dont have a bodybuilder.
