You cant do anything by reading a book about philosophy or human nature or any of these books that intellectuals jack off over. I am not here to shit on you if you read these books but to say that they are gonna give you a whole new perspective and make you smarter and help you understand things is just crazy.

It seems that a lot of people have this idea that if they just read books about philosophy and “how to win every battle” and “the art of negotiation in the 21st century” that they are smart and they can somehow improve the way they think and operate in the world. If you read these kinds of books I would be genuinely interested to hear what you think about it

Already mentioned but Art of the deal and book of the five rings are essential.

Count of Monte Cristo is great motivation-fuel for looksmaxxing/wealthmaxxing.

If you ever want something to read for entertainment the Book of the New Sun books by Gene Wolfe are a good read.

I've read tons of self-help books - books about seduction, manipulating people, getting rich, achieving your dreams, improving yourself, etc. and I'm still broke and with no women. The men who are rich, successful and desired by women didn't get there by reading self-help books.

Stop recommending conmen like Napoleon Hill and Dale Carnegie.

I'm often tempted to just tell people to avoid "self-improvement" at all cost. There is so much useless garbage out there and you could end up wasting your life on it if you're not critical of what you're consuming. Most people cannot discern useful self-improvement from fake cultist shit, so the little use you can get out of it is not worth the risk.

For sheer entertainment, The Catcher in the Rye. Somewhat of a precursor to modern day inceldom, but funny as hell.

The Millionaire Mind, as the name implies, is a good introduction into thinking like a rich person.

The Wealthy Barber and 4 Hour Work Week were good for their time, when compounding interest and breaking away from the 9-5 were novel concepts, respectively.

The prime concern of this forum, however, is an invaluable tool in getting what you want (whatever it may be) and, as many have already mentioned, more valuable than what many blue-pilled, self-help books have to offer.

For fitness:

Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe
Practical Programming for Strength Training by Mark Rippetoe

For literally everything else:

Just search for lists of classics on goodreads since there is no perfect answer, you just have to read what you like. Me, personally I only like fiction novels that have either a great adventure or a great mystery to solve in the story. For every other type of fiction novels, I rarely finish them.

As for nonfiction, search for a specific topic that you are interested in, for me that is history, especially the history of western Europe, not my own country. But you can also learn about various scientific topics for fun. If you want to read all your books for free, you can go to libgen or this nice mirror called zlibrary: https://b-ok.cc/

The books that actually gives you knowledge that you can use in your daily life are the ones to read. For example, diet books to lose fat/gain muscle, muscle building books, books that teach you about why humans do things, books on how to read people and their motives, books on how to program/code(if you want to become a coder), etc.

Please stay away from books that are number one in mainstream media, books that are fiction, books that "inspire you or motivate" you( those books are nonsense blue-pill shit), and books that talk about love and relationship.

The books about philosophy are good to read also.
