elastics move jawbone afaikElastics move the teeth within the alveolar bone, which is a special type of bone that is fairly remodellable.
Mewing pushes against the hard palate which is a regular bone. The sutures of the palate, which allow movement, closes at like 13, meaning movement is not possible once they are closed.
They don't. The jaw has regular bone and alveolar bone, the teeth sit in the alveolar bone, which is what elastics move.elastics move jawbone afaik

So you cannot get recessed by having elastics? or elastics + or premolar extractionsMewing doesn't do anything if you don't start from the age of 10.
Elastics just move your teeth within your alveolar bone to straighten teeth.
While it is true that movement isn't possible once the sutures have fused, they typically do not close at 13 (otherwise your face wouldn't change much past that age).Elastics move the teeth within the alveolar bone, which is a special type of bone that is fairly remodellable.

Yeah, I typed the wrong number. I know a few orthos though, and they seem pretty reluctant to give people around 15-16 palate expanders, probably because the sutures start fusing by then and tooth-borne expanders(most orthos don't do TAD expanders) would most likely fuck with the teeth. While it is true that movement isn't possible once the sutures have fused, they typically do not close at 13 (otherwise your face wouldn't change much past that age).
Most facial sutures relevant to facial aesthetics fuse around the end of puberty, which is why palate expansion devices used by orthodontists are able to work without breaking the suture up to around 15-16 years old.
Elastic makes constant pressure, mewing is just when you remember to mewtitle
