it's supposed to be a successor to metropolis, both are magical realism sci-fi epics about the consequences of technocratic industrial society, secularism, the loss of faith, nihilism, hedonism, and trans humanism set in a near future megacity. like how metropolis officially inaugurated the 20th century, megalopolis will do the same for the 21st. and both will precede a great holocaust. this happens because reality runs on math and is symmetrical.

i think like the robot maria harbinger of doom , this film will feature an ai singularity that will take humanity to the brink of destruction.
