82% of youngsters are single

on Valentine's day I saw many instagram polls which asked if you are single or have a partner.
most of them showed 82% of people are single, (the most optimistic poll showed the percentage of 74)
I reflected why so few people have a partner, and here are some possibilities:

1) being in a relationship requires a busy/demanding life for both genders so people enjoy being single.
(this can't be right because life without sex and intimacy is frustrating)

2) most girls play the field with chads so they can have sex without a long-term boyfriend.
(this can't be right because in my opinion most girls have sex only with long-term partners)

3) girls are very selective so they only accept top-tier guys as partners
(this can't be right because there are many ugly guys with girlfriends)

what is the reason why so many people are single?

polls from my social circle friends (around 20 years old) and big instagram pages gave the same result: 20% engaged
