@enchanted_elixir ’s Forum User Of The Year Tournament operates according to a bracket structure.
Tournament brackets work when the competition depends on the individual players’ skills, such as in sports games.
However, tournament brackets have a major flaw when the competition depends on other people voting for each round’s winner.
Why? The Law of Transitivity doesn’t apply to voting.
The Law of Transitivity states, if A mogs B and B mogs C, then A mogs C. This is logical. But it doesn’t work when it comes to who wins elections.
So you see, the Law of Transitivity fails in the above case.
How’s this relevant to the FUOTY tournament? The fact that transitivity fails in voting elections means that the initial setup of contenders can affect the final outcome.
Because sports games’ outcomes are determined by the teams’ skill levels, this flaw doesn’t exist in bracket tournaments in sports. No matter the starting arrangement of the teams, the best team wins.
Unlike sports, the FUOTY tournament can be rigged to favor some contenders over others. Let’s see how it’s done:
Clearly, the system is utterly fooking broken.

Let’s say there’re 3 voters who each have different preferences about what forum members are better than others. Voter A’s preferences from most to least favorable:
What if we have a faceoff between @pneumocystosis and @curlyheadjames?
Well, if @8PSLcel > @pneumocystosis and @pneumocystosis > @curlyheadjames, shouldn’t @8PSLcel win when matched against @curlyheadjames? No. @8PSLcel versus @curlyheadjames:

First let’s make up 3 imaginary voters who each have preferences about 4 contenders for the coveted award of Forum User of the Year 2022. Voter A’s preferences from most to least favorable:
@hebbewem wins the contest! Now see what changes if @ifyouwannabemylover and @Amnesia start in swapped positions: Whoa! @Daiquiris wins the contest! @Daiquiris loses in the 1st round in the 1st bracket setup. He’s the winner in the 2nd bracket setup. An utter loser can be a winner only from 1 swap in the competitors’ starting matchups. |
Clearly, the system is utterly fooking broken.

1. HE RIGGED THE DRAW Why else would he put himself against an inactive user like @Amnesia and put users he likes @8PSLcel for example against a favorable opponent (he lost tho jfl). He also didn't explain how he made the draw. Spin the wheel? Or did he just choose the opponents? For this...
