Building/maintaining muscle mass during calorie deficit

Will I be able to get more muscle mass or at least maintain it if I get enough protein in?
 
just lift with as much intensity as on a bulk and keep going to failure. dont do to big of a deficit. 500 cals max. losing muscle on a cut is overblown
