Can someone teach me how to cook rice without a rice cooker

Today I tried to make rice but I do not have a rice cooker. The rice turned into a giant mold of slimy shit. I ate some and wanted to vomit and I feel as if it is sticking inside my intestines. All the recipes online say use a rice cooker and the ones that don't do not specify what type of rice they are using. I am using the oriental variety (glutenous).
