No, what are is carotene for?

It's for skin but it's to help add colouring. In some pics your skin looks a bit grey and ashy so through the use of say carotene + lycopene you can bring a bit of colour to your skin.

If you maxxed out your colouring on darker skin I reckon the tone would be something similar to what you see on a lot of mulattos. That strong robust bronze colour.
