I could not grow a beard until I was 22 (now) and I'm pretty sure my T is higher than average. Deep voice and wide face.

Well, it was 30 years ago so things were a bit different I guess.
Still, women were hypergamous back then too.
Competition is always hard to the extent of available male population.
On the other hand, the competition was also hard in my times because males were much better gl than today's males.
