how come shooting ranges aren’t like I thought?

The other day I went to a shooting range. I thought I could bring some snacks and a beer and just relax listening to music shooting targets but they had someone watching everyone and it was very organized and choreographed. I thought I could just bring my gun and shoot targets listening to music with some snacks
