I am a former top 1% dutch student and I did exactly this at the age of 22yo. Being the best student gives you completely 0 life quality. I am ashamed of the fact that I ever did my best in school and tried to get a good carreer going. It has been a completely fruitless and unrewarded endeavor. Nobody respects or rewards you for being that perfect guy/scholar.

I studied physics at a top university in the netherlands, being in the top 1% in any national standardized testing throughout my youth.

But.. at the same time I lived in poverty, abused by my parents and rejected by my peers socially and sexually. What kind of life quality is that? Life of the incel beta nerd. Ofcourse I burned out, anyone would in that situation.

Losing out on vital social and sexual experiences in your childhood, and instead accumulating negative experiences, does kill your mental development and self-esteem.

Looksmaxing in the basement while dropping out of uni eventually got me to lose my KHHV status at 23yo. So honestly? It was worth it.

Girls don't even care if you have ambition, a good job or brains. They mostly care about your looks, but also about having this care-free, experienced, dominant personality. Which is mostly a result of having good looks and a good childhood.

The personality/experience part I still completely lack and probably will never get. You fake it on dates as best as you can, but it's hard and kills your enjoyment.
