• KARL PEARSON (1857-1936), English mathematician, historian and philosopher, as well as a disciple of Galton. He is known for founding biostatistics, mathematical statistics and biometrics.

• THEODORE ROOSEVELT (1858-1919), twentieth President of the United States, descendant of the Dutch aristocracy, cowboy, man of extraordinary vitality, father of six children, prohibited immigration from China, Japan and the Philippines as being of inferior quality to that of northern Europe and received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1906 for his mediation in the Russo-Japanese War. Hall delved into the biological and psychological differences between men and women, as well as the issue of racial eugenics. He was the first president of the American Psychological Association, as well as of Clark University. He denounced the efforts of modern societies to "save the dying, defective, and criminals, since helping them survive interferes with the process of natural selection."

• VIRGINIA WOOLF (1882-1941), English writer and editor, famous for her novels. MADISON GRANT (1865-1937), American lawyer, eugenicist and conservationist. About the year 1880, the Jukes had left their original home and dispersed throughout the country, but the change of environment brought about no material change in their natures, for they still showed "the same weakness of mind, indolence, licentiousness and dishonesty, even when they were not hampered by the fame of their bad name and despite the fact of being surrounded by better social conditions." • Sir JULIAN S. HUXLEY (1887-1975), English biologist, writer and zoologist, first director general of UNESCO and president of the London Zoological Society. He was the brother of the famous writer Aldous Huxley ("Brave New World"), half-brother of another biologist, Andrew Huxley (Nobel Prize winner), son of the writer Leonard Huxley and grandson of T. H. Huxley, a well-known colleague of Darwin.

• OLIVER W. HOLMES, Junior (1841-1935), Civil War veteran and American jurist who strongly influenced the style of American law, in addition to serving on the Supreme Court for 30 years. In his private correspondence, Holmes expressed his eugenic views in a far more brutal and extremist manner than in his public interventions.

We have seen more than once that the public welfare can call upon the best citizens to give up their lives. It would be strange if he could not call on those who already drain the strength of the State, to carry out these minor sacrifices [sterilization]... It is better for everyone if instead of waiting to execute degenerate children for crimes, or let them die starving for their imbecility, society can prevent those who are manifestly unfit from continuing their species. LAWRENCE (1885-1930), famous English writer, controversial in his day for giving quite explicit erotic descriptions, and for describing the arduous life of the miners of the North of England, tough and strong people, subjected to a rigid natural selection, and whose children played in the streets in Winter without scarves, laughing at the soft bourgeois children, who were wrapped up to their necks. In the quote that follows, he seems very extremist on issues of negative eugenics.

If it were up to me, he would build a gas chamber as big as the Crystal Palace, with a military band playing softly, and a cinematograph working brilliantly; then he would go into the alleys and the main streets, and bring them all in, all the sick, the paralyzed, and the crippled; I would lead them kindly, and they would smile at me wearily and gratefully, and the band would gently bubble up the "Hallelujah Chorus."

• JEAN DEVANNY (1894-1962), New Zealand novelist and socialist living in Australia and obviously influenced by the theories of Margaret Sanger and by the strange Australian feminism, which advocated having many children and raising them according to a eugenic mentality.

Sterilization is the logical extension of birth control, to include those lineages whose mental weakness or degeneration preclude the use of normal methods. Birth control among the higher types must be offset by mandatory birth control for the uncontrolled, the bestial, the simple.

EUGENE PITTARD (1867-1962), Swiss laureate professor of Anthropology at the University of Geneva.

HARRY H. LAUGHLIN gave different priorities to European emigration. First there were those of the Germanic peoples: "Teutons" (Northern Germans), Anglo-Saxons, Scandinavians and Dutch. At the bottom were the Chinese. Hitler was inspired by his eugenic laws to develop the "racial hygiene" of his Reich. Laughlin advocated the need to sterilize 10% of all American society, those considered to be of the lowest biological quality. He became president of the Pioneer Fund, a group established in 1937 to finance research projects on issues of race, genetics and eugenics.

The sum total of human freedom and human happiness will, in the long run, be greatly promoted by eugenic processes that call for an elimination of degenerate and handicapped varieties of racial lineages, and the increase of the numbers of highly gifted citizens by Nature with splendid mental, physical and moral qualities. The State, therefore, must exercise its undoubted right and duty to control human reproduction along the lines of the improvement of the race, and by doing so it justifies taking measures to achieve the desired end, within the margins of the Charter of Human rights and principles.

• MISAEL BAÑUELOS (1887-1954), Spanish doctor, gynecologist who wrote "Psychology of Femininity", Nordicist who drew attention to a certain Asian and African influence in the Iberian Peninsula, and professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Valladolid . Influenced by the American and German eugenicists and Nordicists, as well as by the authors who had written on the issue of Race (Gobineau, De Lapouge, Chamberlain, Grant, Günther, Rosenberg, etc.), he thought that the salvation of the West was to take care the Race, that only the nationalist governments were in a position to carry out this task and that, among them, the Government of Nazi Germany "is the only one that has understood, in all its transcendence, the value of blood and of the race". In pre-war Spain, Bañuelos was one of the men who admired Hitler most unconditionally.

It is inevitable that every progressive political conception tends to improve the lot and number of the superior man, compared to the inferior and degenerate.

• The AMERICAN GENETICS ASSOCIATION was born from the ABA (American Breeders Association, or American Breeding Association), which was founded in 1903. • Dr. ALEXIS CARREL (1873-1944), French surgeon, eugenicist and biologist with firm religious beliefs, as well as a truly gifted person, famous for having invented the "artificial heart" and new methods of suturing blood vessels, among other things. Modern nations will be saved by developing the strong, not protecting the weak.

• JEAN ROSTAND (1894-1977), French biologist and philosopher, follower of Alexis Carrel, elected to the Academie Française in 1959 and awarded the Kalinga Prize in 1960.

Colonel ANTONIO VALLEJO-NÁJERA (also written Nágera, 1889-1960), Spanish psychiatrist and head of the Army's health services. He preached the need to establish a "social militarism, which means order, discipline, personal sacrifice, punctuality in service, because the military phial contains pure essences of social virtues, physical and spiritual strength" [8]. He also maintained that to regenerate the race in Spain, "the militarization of the school, the University, the workshop, the café, the theater, all social spheres" was necessary, in addition to a plan to sterilize the unfit and promote those eligible through state aid and tax exemption for each child, taking as examples the eugenic schools of the United States, England, Germany (of which he defended its "race hygiene") and Sweden. One of his innovations consisted of studying groups of Marxists from a psychiatric point of view, after which he concluded that Marxism was the result of a mental disorder and that it would be worth thinking about sterilizing some Marxist elements whose illness was not temporary. His main work in this sense is "Eugenics of Hispanidad and regeneration of the race." Vallejo-Nájera belonged, therefore, to a fairly unknown eugenic tradition, and of which the aforementioned Redondo y Carranceja and J. Medina (author of "Herencia y Eugenics", 1932) were also members.

He advocates sterilization in the face of the large number of intellectual or moral inferiors, inferiorities that are hereditarily transmissible. Swedish technicians say that modern civilization acts in the direction of degenerating races, a danger that still increases due to the great fertility of the mentally weak. The progress of a people depends on the majority of the population receiving its hereditary dispositions from a large mass of healthy individuals. If until now the States had been concerned with increasing birth rates without taking quality into account, from now on they must seek the exclusive increase of families made up of healthy individuals. Results superior to those provided by negative and reprehensible methods must be expected from this constructive and positive eugenics. However, a broad eugenic policy must use all possible means, both the prohibition of marriages between mentally disabled people and their confinement in mental institutions. But sterilization is the surest means of preventing the procreation of undesirables. It is a right and a duty of the State to protect, in the best possible way, future generations against the danger represented by the unlimited procreation of degenerate individuals. That is why the sterilization of psychically disabled people must be authorized, such sterilization regulated by legal prescriptions.

Hitler's Germany was the culmination of all the processes we have seen, and it was at the 1936 Berlin Olympics where the Germans attempted to present themselves as defenders of health, announcing their commitment to body culture.

The Second World War marked a before and after. Before the Third Reich, these things were talked about without fear. During the Third Reich, they were applied. And after the Third Reich, the Pharisees of finance and the media shrouded everything eugenic and genetic in a politically incorrect fog. In addition to the men mentioned here, we can mention other prominent scientists who had a prominent role in the development of the Nazi eugenic ideology (known as Rassenhygiene, or "racial hygiene"), such as Fritz A. WHITNEY, American veterinarian, dog trainer, canine psychologist and secretary of the American Eugenics Society, as well as author of "The basis of breeding", a book on eugenics intended for the public profane in the matter. This quote expresses the opinion of many eugenicists of his time: that the Third Reich was the first State to take from theory to practice all the postulates of almost a century of eugenic debate. This quote, from 1934, was uttered the same year that Whitney proposed the sterilization of 10 million "defective" Americans—at a time when the United States had 126 million inhabitants.

Many intelligent men and women in both England and America have long been working industriously to achieve something very similar to what Hitler has now made obligatory.


• SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, Australian newspaper that offers the opinion of another country with an important eugenicist influence, before the press deployed its vast manipulative means to reverse public opinion and make it hostile to Germany.

• Sir JOHN E. SULSTON (1942-), British chemist and Nobel Prize winner in Medicine in 2002. I don't think anyone should bring a manifestly disabled child into this world.

• RICHARD LYNN (1930-), British psychologist and professor, Professor of Psychology at the University of Ulster, known, among other things, for his support of theories of human inequality. Lynn maintains that there are important differences in intelligence between individuals of different races or sexes. In July 2002 he caused controversy by publishing an interesting compendium of scientific racial differences in the pro-eugenicist journal American Renaissance.

Generally, in human and animal populations, natural selection eliminates the inept, allowing the most gifted to survive. Survival of the fittest keeps the population genetically healthy by getting rid of genetically poorly endowed individuals, much like a gardener keeps the garden healthy by continually weeding. When functioning properly, natural selection of human populations is like a double-edged sword. With the first it causes great mortality and with the second it imposes low fertility on those with genetic disorders, insufficient intelligence and weak moral character. Morel and Galton perceived that both edges were failing in the mid-19th century. It was as if the gardener had left and the garden was becoming overgrown with weeds.

Until now, natural selection had worked well in Western nations. The populations had the high mortality and differential fertility that is necessary for natural selection to work well. Couples usually had six or seven children, but among the population as a whole only a little more than two of them, on average, survived to maturity. High mortality rates tended to eliminate the gifted, the unintelligent, and those of low moral character because they were more vulnerable to dying from disease and their own inability to survive.

Natural selection was also exercised because the healthiest, the most intelligent and the most moral had, in turn, more offspring. The main reason this was so was because people with these qualities made a more efficient living and this meant they could eat better and have more offspring. Another factor was the existence of strong social controls that prevented those who lacked these qualities from having children. If the latter had children, there were no social services that would provide them with the necessary means to support them. Generally, such children were taken into asylums where most of them perished. It was a harsh world but it served the purpose of keeping the population genetically healthy. • JAMES L. HART, American Republican political activist. Hart maintains that there are "favored races" who invented the automobile and outer space travel, and other races who are incapable of such achievements. Among other things, he supports unhindered Eugenics, opposes racial integration, claiming that if our ancestors had "integrated" centuries ago, electric light or aviation would never have appeared, he combats usury and preaches the need to carry a " war against the genes of poverty" that, according to him, accumulate particularly in marginal areas of the West such as Detroit - a predominantly black American city, with enormous practically Third World ghettos - and in the Third World. In 2004, Hart ran to represent Tennessee's Eighth State District, but his own party (!) boycotted him as a "white supremacist":

• ALLEN BUCHANAN is an American professor of Philosophy at Duke University who has broken several lances in favor of Genetics, focusing on its ethical aspects, and advocating for the improvement of our descendants through biotechnology.
