To clarify - what we consider light skin / fair in NW India is different from what you're talking about. People like sidharth malhotra, Varun Dhawan etc are actually just medium brown here. And no real halo since it's what's expected.

What is considered fair is like tiger Shroff complexion. That is a slight halo since it's less common probably like 1 out of 5 people with that tone (depending on pheno). And because mother's and aunties love that skintone like they love height.
