I've seen countless times them niggas get an advantage in life, better job, higher status etc... the result is systematically the same : not giving a fuck about others.
Thats why i both resent the poor and the rich. Never forget that the poor would leave for a tax haven if they were rich and the rich would unionize if they were poor.

I wouldn't call this selfishness but egocentrism, economy is based on competition and in some way you have to be self centered to not live badly. Most people decide to accept that others live better, they work as employees knowing that boss is making 10x more money (there's no class conflict bullshit). Your boss wouldn't exist without his employees, hierarchies happen in any civilization but you don't have to be selfish around your family or friends.

If you give, they will ask for more. The same goes with your family and your friends. The key is having leverage, never give, always lend. Those who care about blood or relations are the one taken advantage of and also the one who would die first in family feuds.
Some people are born to slave away their whole lives for their boss, but even those would backstab you for your place. Why ? Weren't they loyal after been given a stable income ? You even gave them a better working environment and you were lenient with them so why ? If you want to show love to your family, sure you can. But never give them mindlessly, for they too think that they deserve your place more than you.

If you look for a book about human history like Sapiens you will understand why today we live in a individualistic, nihilistic and completely mind rotted society. Also your examples of big figures like Napoleon or Charlemagne debunks your "be selfish" advice because as I said there's always a leader and his/her followers, not everyone can own a private company and not everyone can be a leader. If people were selfish they wouldn't admire anyone but themselves aka narcissus or the meme philosopher Max Stirner, that's why I made a difference between being self centered (similar to Ayn Rand's definition of selfishness) to being always a selfish scumbag who definitely wouldn't make friends or followers irl. Most of my actions are designed for my own well being but that doesn't mean I can't help others if it doesn't make my life worse (if I don't feel forced to do it).
