I think it's because we don't share the fact that we watch porn, unlike how some other people might boast other drugs like "smoking" (yes I consider pornography a drug). A porn addict doesn't tell his friends that his porn obsession is out of control, so there's literally nobody that can intervene or tell him otherwise, nor is he shunned by society because not only is it normalized but the user tries to normalize himself by listening to people who tell him "porn is healthy".

It's honestly not a problem (and it's how I quit pornography) when you actually have something to do.

I know a lot of unemployed fellows out there masturbate up to 6 times a day because they literally have nothing else to do besides eat and play video games.

Also whenever I did something good for someone else I felt better when I know I hadn't masturbated, sort of like my track record was clean.
Thankfully now I'm considered 100% clean, and I have no more urges despite what other recoverants have said.

How did you do it? Do you still jack off without watching it?

Well there were a lot of factors.
I found something that I enjoyed doing and therefore was too busy to even think about my urges.
I found a girlfriend in my life (but I didn't have sex) however I found another source of love in my life other than my family.
Started going outside, playing sports.
Probably one of the biggest things I did to combat my urges were to just read books. It's hard to start but once you're on a book you like it's hard to put down.
