This man was 6ft tall, which was rare at the time, but because of where he grew up he spoke with an accent which was considered very unattractive. He was was an explorer and courtier. One of the Queens' favorites. Historians say he was kind of like the equivalent of a James Bond of his era. He introduced Tobacco to Great Britain, gave the State of Virginia it's name, and the capital city of North Carolina is named after him.

Ye I’ve read about him. Didn’t he give Virginia its name because the fields were ripe for cultivating tobacco?

i wish i could be a victorian era explorer

instead, i have to be content with being an adventurer at the closing of the old world order

and head into the new world of multi polarity

No, I believe it was named after Queen Elizabeth. 'Virginia", because she was supposedly to be a "virgin queen". That's what they called her anyway.

I thought it was after Elisabeth.

Anyways, yeah the colony was called Jamestown. I was born only a 40 minute drive from there.
