Activities include painting (including bridge painting and traffic lane painting), electrical work (including work on bridges, power lines, and power plants), carpentry work, plumbing, heating, air-conditioning, plastering, oil/water well drilling, concrete work, roofing, and sheet metal work.

Thoughts on for instance becoming a certified plasterer and establishing the leading plastering contractor business in your region. With the ability to scale to dozens of employees and 30+ million € depending on the current demand and supply in your region.
If you invested 100k+ in superior equipment that increases productivity substantially you could bind employees to you that don't have the money for such expensive equipment. That, combined with good quality work and marketing could really transform it into a medium or big business.

What's interesting is that here local monopolies are formed. Every medium city has such business founders that became filthy rich. Also most young people stay away from trades while immigration in the west stays high so the demand stays the same while the supply is falling drastically.

What equipment? There are not many types of equipment that can increase productivity in construction afaik. Becoming a subcontractor is way more difficult than becoming GC imo if you don't have enough experience in the field.

it could work, but to get it started you’d need some skill in the field. You could start in a City that’s been overlooked by big gov, poor with high rates of unemployment would make hiring people easy, especially if it’s basic work like painting. After a while you could probably get contracted by local government to help develop their areas.

Developing countries are ripe with areas like that.

Usually if you go to the most conservative parts of a country, they're the most impoverished and neglected.
