China is trying to assert themselves on Honk Kong, starting with one of the big bills that would allow Honk Kong to extradite people to the mainland. This is bad since it'll be a sort of slippery slope to giving up more and more control to China. Honk Kong is one of the few places left in Asia that are pretty free tho at this rate, the Chinese might just crush the protestors with their military. Be thankful we're not there
