Why are you speaking for matters that you dont know the reasons for? The Orthodox places in Bosnia and Croatia until they were kicked out in the 90's are comprised from descendants of pastoralist serbs that migrated there under the orders of the Sultan that used them as border guards againts catholic croats, why do you even think Serbs and Croats also hate eachother so much? During ww2 Catholic fanatic Croats hated Orthodox christians so much they killed hundred of thousands of them in concentration camps while regarding muslim Bosnians as their lost brothers. The muslim regions of Bosnia are the traditional urban dwelling, or heartland of the nation since pre islamic town, and this trend of urbanites becoming muslim was the norm in all of the Balkans

Macedonia has lower HDI and GDP againts a country that was 4 years in war and with a fucked up division even now

They lived under their own laws under the millet system. The jizya wasn't an arbitrary tax enforced on non-Muslims it gave those communities provisions (mainly legal and administrative) and in some cases exemptions (I.e from military service).

If you're equating Islam with lack of economic development you've got nothing on 90% of it's history. Ofc in the last 100-200 years they slowly adopted and imitated the West as much as they could. There have been varying levels of success. It's not different to other non-Western countries. But the smarter ones (i.e China) didn't equate modernisation with westernisation.
