Why do people I know look MUCH worse in photos and videos, compared to IRL? (see explanation)

I'm talking about both men and women.

A girl in my college, she looks 100x better IRL than on her photos. Some men too. As in, like a different person.

But this girl, wow. Photos from different angles, lightning, smiles, etc....
she looks very mid or even ugly in photos and videos, but much much better IRL.

I'd never think she's attractive from her photos and videos... she looks either mid or kinda ugly... but she looks really cute, even hot you could say, IRL.

Her FACE is much more attractive including her bone structure etc., smile is much nicer.....

That for sure but I guess sometimes GL aren't photogenic (heard from others), as the pictures are taken with different angles and lenses

Features like jaw angularity and eye color aren't that noticeable from a distance but very obvious in photos
