If you want to make a shit ton of money attending the top 10 University in your country is most important.

Stacy studying Geography at LSE has a higher chance of earning £100k yearly compared to Chinacurry who studies computer science at Coventry University.

There are plenty of studies that show top employers target top schools here’s one

Here’s a report showing what universities are mainly targeted by investment banks

If you come from a poor background and all your ancestors were poor the fastest way to change that is to attend a top university.

The university you go to automatically brings prestige who is most likely going to get funded by a startup? Jack who graduated Oxford with a 1st has numerous internships and has side businesses or Lewis who quit Highschool and runs a 6 figure business?

You think Lewis will? Nahh Jack would don’t forget these guys running these top investment companies and companies in general attended top universities so they are often biased to those from their university yes nepotism.

Yeah you need to make it to Oxbridge or London Triangle - UCL, LSE and ICL.
But Quantitative degrees at Russel Group should be good too.

No point going third class universities. Rather do apprentice for like store manager at a supermarket like LIDL etc.

Thats why I am applying economics for LSE/UCL/Imperial/Cambridge/Queen Mary as last option if you dont go to these its over for you. Like my relative who graduated from cambridge for economics earns £80k as 22 yr old.

Graduating from Oxford absolutely opens startup doors. It also helps get experience that opens doors. More than that though, it gets you into networks where there's funding that simply isn't available to people who don't have those networks.

If I were talking to a teenager I would tell them to get into Oxbridge (or the US equivalent) if they can, even if they are trying to start their own business.

Oxford is safer I agree, but somone who makes a successful business while in highschool and drops out almost always mogs

It depends… Of course if you study at oxbridge even shitty degrees like media studies will open doors for most jobs that are unrelated to that field simply because you went to oxbridge.

But for CS you can study at a shit uni and get a 2:2 and apply for junior position and that’s mission complete as the next jobs after that won’t care bout your shitty degree as experience > degree.

However if you wanna get into FAANG companies then yes you will need to goto a good uni and get a good grade.

It dont matter for cs since most unis including third rates overlap on syllabus. Just hope you have good teachers and are good at self learning. That's all for future prospects for a job or even self employment since cs/tech is a freedom field.

Finance on the other hand is raw nepotism

for STEM it only matters if u go top 20-30 after that go anywhere just work on skills
