What is fungal acne and follucilitis ?

Fungal acne, also known as pityrosporum folliculitis(it's also a type of follucilitis), is a skin condition characterized by pimple-like bumps that typically appear on the chest, back, neck, and upper arms. It is caused by an overgrowth of yeast in the hair follicles, which triggers an inflammatory response and results in itching and pimple-like eruptions. It can be easily mistaken for regular acne, but is typically treated differently, usually with antifungal medications. Fungi reacts to sunlight badly so it might leave hyperpigmented spots on your face which fucks up your even coloring.

Folliculitis is a skin condition characterized by inflammation of one or more hair follicles, often resulting in red bumps or pimple-like eruptions around hair-bearing areas of the skin. Folliculitis can be caused by a variety of factors, including bacteria, yeast, or fungus, as well as physical irritation from shaving, clothing, or other sources.

How to check if you have fungal acne at home(not certain, still visit a dermatologist):
Buy a blacklight ultraviolet lamp and see if your skin lights in orange or blue colors (woods lamp test). You have to bring it close enough to see it luminate. If it's orange it's bacterial, if it's yellowish-white it's fungal. Make sure you protect your eyes while doing this. Make sure its really ultraviolet black light and not a led imitation. Dust can confuse things (dust usually appears all white with no yellowish or bluish tint)...

Best way to get diagnosed and have treatment to get rid of it as soon as possible is by visiting an high iq dermatologist.

Keep in mind that tret and most actives typically don't work for these types of acne. Fungal acne is caused by fungi and most moisturizers, sunscreens trigger FA. You might need to drop everything you're using and start antifungal treatment. Follucilits is usually caused by overkill antibacterial treatment which killed the useful bacteria and gave resistance to harmful bacteria on skin and you might have to take accutane or different antibiotics prescribed by derm.
