Yeah it would be benefitial (for @Pietrosiek as example) but if your lips are normal proportioned then dont touch this. Work on coloring, fullness but dont make them out of proportions or faggy.

All results I've seen have generally looked good.

The only fuck ups realself cases of surgeons who excised way too much philtrum.
