Most men live lives of quiet desperation especially in modern times. It is without a doubt that the great war of today’s youth is a spiritual war. And their great depression is their lives. Our youth have all been raised on television to believe that one day they will all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars, but they won’t and they are beginning to realize that fact.
The cult of nihilism, i.e., Modernity and its plethora of denominations, i.e.; liberalism aka capitalist democracies, communism/socialism, fascism, post-modernity, etc., have come to a decline in the power of traditional authority such as the Church. Roman Catholic philosopher G.K. Chesterton correctly asserted that “For the modern world will accept no dogmas upon any authority, but it will accept any dogmas on no authority.”
It is in human nature to be believe in one way or another to fill the bottomless abyss. If a person seek sex, power, and money then your goal is to make as many people feel important as possible to grow one's influence. To peddle influence successfully, it is best to be structured with concepts that are benign and familiar. It is much more difficult to sell a product that is alien, reprobate, and/orv wacky. In fact most cults are derived from preexisting religions, popular ideas, and organizations. Think of it like an onion.
However it should be obvious to AVOID marketing a product as just an improved version of someone elses. Take any practices, beliefs, artistic output (also known as, popular art or mass art) and objects that are dominant or prevalent in a society that then blend them into a marketable product that gives a potential mark a higher purpose and solves any problems whether it is societal or personal issues. Then offer your mark something for free and they will inevitably give something back in return.
And to recruit a mark be subtle about any intentions and abstract information to exploit. Lie and leave out information if needed. Once the novice marks joins separate them from other novice marks and put them with veteran marks to receive the love they never had from the cold dark outside world. As time goes on the initial targets will become the most loyal and best salesman. These veteran marks will eventually recruit new targets.
Now, provide all marks a rigid schedule and solicit payment, initially voluntary but over time have payment be mandatory using manipulation, guilt, and separate the mark from their individuality. Spin mental break downs by the mark as liberation. If necessary have the marks break all ties from the outside world as well as have an active life with little food and sleep as well as
Induce trance states and self-hypothesis by thought-stopping rituals and repetitive acts like dancing, spinning, singing, over-breathing, and chanting.
Utilize spies and actors to give marks the impression of divine healing and omnipotence. Claim authority such as divine sources, pseudoscience, special knowledge, or stories that boost one's image. This could include plots to be silence by a all power adversary which could also make the marks fell like they are apart of an elite group. Albeit, it is ill advised to be being too ostentatious because a good conman takes a little bit of truth and a lot of lies and pulls the wool over the eyes of the ignorant.
