Personal story:
I was a chronic MJ user for well over a year and started developing cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome. I was trying to cure it with a bunch of different supplement, NAC was one of them. The very next day after I started taking it I noticed the craving disappeared. I smoked anyways out of habit, and the experience was very different. I looked up the supplement to and found a many studies about NAC with connection to mental disorders and addictions. To this day I am free of MJ use.

Noting that NAC has shown evidence, in vitro and in animals, of efficacy for treating a variety of drug use disorders,

Findings from animal studies indicate that NAC may:
- reduce alcohol-seeking
- reduce withdrawal symptoms
- reduce the teratogenic effects of alcohol
- prevent alcohol toxicity
- reduce health-related consequences of alcohol (eg, myocardial oxidative stress and alcohol-related steatohepatitis).
