japan took control of Korea during WW2 and commited mass atrocities there. such as: using the women as comfort slaves, trying to change the language, trying to subvert the korean culture into japanese culture. japan used them as a colonial outpost, similar to how europe would use african countries during the race for power. the sentiment has been around for a long time.
