I used to put olive oil on my foods because it’s considered beneficial for the purpose of longevity but I’ve came to the conclusion that this is unnatural, and that I should get the ideal fats through whole foods instead. Perhaps the Mediterranean diet is associated with longevity simply because it is less harmful that the other diets (and the olive oil is less harmful than the added fats of those diets) and not that olive oil possesses some beneficial effect on health per se in that it would be wise to supplement it.
