A lot of black people (and curly haired people in general) just grow beards instead of shaving regularly because of our ingrown hairs. The truth is that most razors are shit for curly hair people because they cut too short, so the hair follicle curls inward and grows within our skin like this:
The solution is to get a trimmer. Trimmers will give you a mostly clean shaven look without going to deep and getting rid of the hair follicle that makes it past the skin layer.
