Charlie has no interest in money except making it. Not all money makers have a large degree of wealth. It depends on degree of freedom one has in their particular field. Some realize only a small fraction of their creative potential, some are never heard of.
It is a small lonely minority that carries our world on it's shoulders. Loneliness is the underground in which we condemned the money maker. It is the loneliness he senses from being the victim of an incomprehensible injustice.
His cold and calculated manner hides his enormously frustrated benevolence, his childlike innocence, and his profoundly earned pride.
He is playing his cards with cuts all over his hands. He is telling a story to his cardinals. They are dressed in luxury.
One was sleeping, the other playing with a dog. There was one was looking at him with an expression Saying what a fool you are to go out and suffer for the human race while we enjoy ourselves at home. What was the picture he was seeing? He was seeing a lonely unappreciated fighter, fighting for human survival in the jungle of inanimate matter. Who alone remembers that the worlds work must go on.
