A little girl heard the ice cream truck passing in front of her house. โMummy! Mummy!โ She cried: โIce cream! The unfulfilled desire was fulfilled and her inner state had been restored to a state of equilibrium. Praise be to Allah who created dreams as a medium through which the soul can not only see itself, but also heal itself.
These dreams from oneโs own nafs (self), are of great importance since they constitute a very valuable yet private picture of the state of health (or lack of health) of our own inner being. Such dreams function, in fact, as windows to the soul, and this was recognized by the Swiss Psychologist, Carl Jung, who made the analysis of dreams an important means of discovering the causes of mental illnesses etc. Dreams which come from the nafs play an important role since they can be the means through which we can gain knowledge about our own moral and spiritual development (or lack of development). Thus an individual may be in a state of external conformity with the moral law in respect of his sexual conduct.
I had wetdreams (nightfalls) for two days in a row in which I had sex with a beautiful woman of my uni (remember, the most horny user on the forum
). I know I can easily do so in real life by making her my girlfriend and what not. But I'm a Muslim and it is haram (life is a test). So this created a tension, distress and ambivalent aura within me and in the end after deciding not to engage in the haram, I went to sleep . My desire was indirectly fullfiled and believe me, these dreams appear more real than in real life. This only happened because the carnal desire was so extreme and knowing there is no other way to satisfy it (because porn and zina are forbidden), and you can't do anything, the gift of dreams comes into the scene.
