Most people don't actually want any of the qualities they pretend to value in a partner or friend.
Honesty, open/direct communication, respect, affection, kindness, emotional intimacy (sharing your true thoughts and feelings). All of these things destroy relationships. The better you treat someone and the more you care about them, the less they value you.
And if you're a real one, it's just a matter of time before people have a problem with you.
