It depends bud, for some people it is quicker than others and also how improvement can your skin have.

Honestly I'd rather have a top notch laser and maintain then results with tretinoin etc etc.

If you have closed comedones like this that are really small and only can be seen when the skin is stretched, then tretinoin will be a nightmare for you as it all will get inflammed and leave red marks behind that will take long to heal. This is not my pic btw.
