Why do people say "daily reminder" even if it is not a daily reminder?

I've noticed that people tend to say "daily reminder" even though it's not truly a daily one. One could argue that the reminder is shared at least once daily on a global level, but some of the "daily reminders" I come across on here are so obscure that it's highly unlikely someone else in the world is repeating them on a daily basis.
