It's more about the relative horizontal position of your maxilla and mandible. The farther back your mandible is relative to your maxilla, the more "rounded" the appearance of your lower jaw due to predominant activation of the deep posterior masseter muscle fibres with mastication. If you have an overjet and are getting orthodontic treatment, don't ever use these rubber bands, which will realign your teeth in a bad position, both in terms of looks and joint health.

ive seen bimax results where their jaws got leaner after. im guessing the muscles got pulled taut by moving the jaws forward.

is excessive chin height related to downward mandible?

So for a person with normal maxilla and mandible un-treated, chewing should not have negative side effects?

Definitely not, as long as you engage both sides equally and engage your front teeth at least as much, if not more as/than your molars
