Whoever said "atrophy" is more retarded than OP; it's called HYPERTROPHY, which in layman's is just muscle gain - meaning that chewing will hypertrophy the masseter muscles, giving the look of a wider jaw.
Also, no, it will not give you TMJ unless your bite is already fucked, chewing is normal.
It can alter bones, via rotation of the maxilla, promoting forward growth, making brow ridge more prominent, etc.
At minimum it will give your jaw a more squared off look as well as make brow ridge more prominent, I've personally found these effects to be self evident, will be posting a thread soon.
