Cartoons exaggerate dimorphism by moving traits on the masc–fem scale in the opposite direction to the same traits in the opposite gender.

For example, if the most attractive IRL male lower–upper ratio is 50% and the most attractive IRL female lower–upper ratio is 55%, cartoons may make male characters with 30% ratio and female characters with 70% ratio. This doesn’t mean humans are attracted to males with as short of legs as possible. IRL, people are attracted to men with longer torsos than women (means medium instead of short), but not truly long in proportions.

The study is however inappropriate. The illusion of a larger upper body is accentuated because they stretch the arms too. In real life arm length doesn't differ much but people with long legs tend to have long arms too (example most blacks). However long legs short torso and arms is very feminine as it doesnt give a n image of a physically strong upper body. Long legs are a masculine trait because they are found more on men fhan women. However despite being a masculine trait they look better on women than men, same goes for torso length for women (women have longer torsos but this trait looks better on men). Clavicle and waist width ratios also affect the appearance, most people with a long torso have narrow shoulders however a big well proportioned long torso with above average arms will always mog IRL. However in pictures long legs look more aesthetic and are generally more female gaze.

longer proportions in general make you look taller, even a longer neck would do that, but unless people are specifically tasked to stare at your legs they don't tend to do it because legs aren't really sexually arousing to women at all, and when they do they don't even look at your legs in it's entirety, they're looking at your calves and feet.
