Most guys who do hair transplant make their hair NW1 instead of NW0

Approaching 40.

what would you say is a better anti-norwood strategy:
a) starting fin in your early 20s as a preventative measure and rolling the dice on stunting DHT-related processes in the body
b) waiting to lose till a NW2.5/3, assuming you reach that point at 30, then doing a HT and starting fin
or something else?

Certainly not a. I would say as soon as you reach NW 2 to start taking finasteride after evaluation by a doctor. The problem is most normies usually don't start to recognize it until NW3, including myself. I was basically your option b above and I would NOT reccomend it because waiting for hair transplant results takes a huge psychological tool, not to mention costs a shitload if you are in murica. However, you have the advantage to use your PSL knowledge earlier, so use it wisely.

FYI, in hindsight I was NW2 in my late 20's and I didn't realize I had hairloss until early 30's at NW3. NW2 really isn't a big deal at that age. Herein lies the dilema because if you basically remain NW2 with a so called mature hairline into your 40's and 50's its not a big deal, but the problem is you don't know how it will progress.

Thanks for your valuable insight, honestly appreciate it.

That's the thing - I've seen a hair loss specialist who said there was some minaturization going on around my hairline but recommended a visit after 12 months without prescribing fin to track how things are going. From my subjective POV, my hairline has been the same for the last year and a half - a bit high, but a NW1-ish.

Yeah, and with the knowledge of fin comes knowledge about what could hypothetically go wrong. I guess there is some truth behind the "ignorance is a bliss" adage. Your last paragraph perfectly describes what bothers me about MPB. Fortunately I live in Europe so the costs of a hypothetical HT are candy when compared to the US.

What he said seems reasonable.

I admire how you guys can just fly down to Turkey cheaply and quickly...

yeah, but you don't know what we have to go trough to acquire anything that's not OTC/prescribed, so I guess we're quits

If you have thick and long healthy hair, nw1 is ok

A thinning NW0 hairline would look utterly ridiculous. Don't be so autistic. Any HT needs to look realistic with a limited amount of donor hairs, thus even NW1 is optimistic in many cases. Even guys who wear wigs are limited by the density and temple thickness of their horseshoe.

If your hairline recedes even 1 hair you are carrying the balding gene, there is no such thing as a mature hairline, your hair will receed stop start again receed a little here and a little there as you age. If you want to cope cope but this is the truth and if it bothers you finasteride.

thing is if the end-stage is a NW3 when you're 70, it's not worth worrying about it, much less playing with your hormones.

Virtually everyone carries "the baldness gene", if this is your criteria, exceptions are pretty rare

Baldness gene makes no sense from a evolutionary perspective while DHT IS a culprit so is the lack of vitamin k2 causing calcification and more stressful lives we have now

Sexual preferences change culturally. Baldness probably wasn't nearly as a big a deal thousands of years ago. You people need to realize how unprecedented and distinct the cultural climate we live in today is. But yeah I agree people are balding earlier if that's what you're implying.
Baldness gene that is active and kicked in.
As I said. Most people recede at least a little bit in their 20s.

Nah our cavemen ancestors needed hair or they wouldn't survive its more epigenetical due to environmental and dietary changes

Your hair is also like an organ the amount of sulfate and harsh hot water that drops on it

Modern shampoo has sulfate and other harsh chemicals that fk with hair also hot water is horrible for the hair it should be cold and quick

Shampoo should be applied every other day since it strips your hair of its natural oils

The way you dry your hair also matters using a towel like sandpaper wont do you any good

What I meant was see your hair as an organ would you constantly pour hot water and chemicals over it ?
