It's interesting if they are just born with a complete lack of the myostatin gene (does this produce any other distinct phenotypes besides excess muscle growth?), inherit certain rare SNP for the myostatin gene or they acquire somehow (environment) hypermethylated version of an otherwise normal myostatin gene resulting in downregulated myostatin rna/protein expression. I am 100% sure that myostatin is a small piece of the puzzle in general.
